We train the next generation of SDSU cyber warriors to protect and defend.
The SDSU Cyber Defense Team was founded Spring 2015. President and Founder Alex Salerno was voluntold by Cal Poly Pomona Professor, Dr. Dan Manson, and SDSU Professor, Peter Bartoli, to create a Computer Security Team to represent San Diego State University.
Since then we have strived to become a powerhouse in all things computer security. We use techniques such as Social Engineering, Spoofing, Fuzzing, Exploitations, Steganography, Injections, Cryptography, and more to push the limits of a system in order to detect its' weak points so that we can strengthen them.
The San Diego State University Cyber Defense Team seeks to understand all things computer security. Using techniques such as social engineering, steganography and cryptography, the student organization pushes the limits of a system in order to detect its weaknesses so they can be strengthened.
Through the Cyber Defense Team, members participate in cyber defense competitions, attend security conferences and listen to guest speakers.
We participate in online and in-person defensive competitions such as the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition. We also attend security conferences and host social activities and guest lecturers from the security community. We particpate in weekly challenges including Capture the Flag and Jeapordy-style contests. No prior cyber defense experience is required for team membership, our club is always looking to expand and will welcome all who are interested.
